Terms of service
Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer. If anything here ever conflicts with your statutory rights, your statutory rights win.
These terms are written for customers in the United Kingdom, which is the only place we sell to and deliver to.
Who we are
Mirumi UK is a trading name of Narwhals Corporation Limited, registered in England and Wales under company number 09169403, operating at 63 Curzon Street, Mayfair, London, W1J 8PD. Our VAT registration number is GB368972827.
Where these terms say "we", "us" or "our", they mean Narwhals Corporation Limited trading as Mirumi UK. Where they say "you", they mean the person using our website or buying from us.
You can reach us at info@mirumi.london.
Mirumi is designed and made by Yukai Engineering in Tokyo. We are their official distributor for the United Kingdom.
1. Using our website
You must be 18 or over to buy from us. Mirumi itself is suitable for ages 15 and over, so please take that into account if you are buying it as a gift.
When you order, please give us information that is accurate and complete, particularly your delivery address and email address. We use the email address you give us to send your order confirmation and dispatch notice, so a mistake there means you will not hear from us.
If you create an account, keep your password to yourself and do not let anyone else use it.
2. Our products
We photograph Mirumi carefully, but screens vary. Colours may look a little different on your device from how they look in your hand. The three colourways are dyed faux fur and there will be small natural variations between individual pieces. That is normal, and part of the character of the product.
This does not affect your right to receive goods that match their description and are of satisfactory quality. If what arrives is not as described, that is covered by our Refund policy and by the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
We may change our product range, and we may limit how many units one person can buy. Where a limit applies, we will say so at the time.
3. Orders
When you place an order you are making an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we send you an order confirmation email. If we cannot accept your order, for example because we have run out of stock, we will tell you and refund anything you have paid in full.
Some of our orders are sent as a private invoice link rather than bought through the shop. Those work the same way: a contract is formed when your payment is taken and we confirm the order.
Your right to change your mind, to return your Mirumi and to a refund if something is wrong with it is set out in our Refund policy. That policy is part of these terms. Please read it rather than relying on any summary elsewhere on the site.
We sell to consumers for their own use. We do not supply for commercial resale. If you are buying in the course of a business, please tell us first, because different terms apply and the consumer protections in these terms will not.
Our first run is limited. We may cap how many units one person or one household can buy, and we may decline an order where we believe it is intended for resale. Where we decline an order we refund anything paid, in full, straight away.
Every Mirumi we send has a unique identifier, which we record against your order and photograph before we pack it. This protects both of us. It lets us confirm that anything sent back to us is the one we sent you, and it lets us prove the condition it left us in.
4. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in pounds sterling and include VAT at the applicable rate. The price you pay is the price shown when you place your order, and it is confirmed in your order confirmation email.
Standard delivery within the United Kingdom is free. Express delivery is £7.95, and the cost is shown before you pay.
We only sell and deliver within the United Kingdom, so there are no customs duties or import charges on anything you buy from us.
Prices in our shop may differ from prices at Harrods or any other stockist. We run promotions from time to time, and where a promotion has its own terms, those terms apply to it.
5. Delivery, and who carries the risk
We aim to dispatch quickly. Each order is checked and packed by hand in London.
Unless we agree a different date with you, we will deliver within 30 days of the day after we accept your order. If we miss that, or miss any delivery date we have specifically agreed with you, you can cancel the order and we will refund you in full.
Your Mirumi remains our responsibility until it is delivered. Risk passes to you when the goods come into your physical possession, or into the possession of someone you have named to receive them at the address you gave us. If your order arrives damaged, or does not arrive at all, that is our problem to fix, not yours. Tell us and we will put it right under our Refund policy.
Delivery times we quote are estimates. If a delivery is running late because of something outside our control, we will tell you as soon as we can and work with you to sort it out. This does not affect your right to cancel if we go beyond the 30 days or beyond an agreed date.
Please check your delivery address before you pay. We deliver to the address you give us. If you give us an address that is wrong or incomplete and your parcel is delivered there, or cannot be delivered and is returned to us, we have met our obligation to deliver. We will always try to help you recover it, and we will resend at cost rather than leave you without one.
We send every order on a tracked service and keep the delivery record.
Full delivery details are in our Shipping policy.
6. Changing your mind, returns and faulty goods
All of this is in our Refund policy, which covers your 14 day right to cancel, how to return a Mirumi, the condition it should come back in, when we refund you and what happens if it arrives faulty or damaged.
We keep those rules in one place on purpose, so that nothing here can drift out of step with them. If you ever find a difference between these terms and the Refund policy, the Refund policy applies.
Two practical points that sit alongside it rather than limiting it. Please tell us before you send anything back, so that we can log it against your order and watch for it arriving. And until a returned Mirumi reaches us it is your responsibility, so please use a tracked service and keep the receipt. If it goes missing on the way back and you cannot show it was sent, we cannot refund it.
We photograph every return on arrival and check its unique identifier against your order.
7. Warranty and support
Every Mirumi bought from us comes with a six month warranty against manufacturing faults, running from the date it is delivered to you. If a manufacturing fault appears in that time we will repair or replace it at no cost to you, including postage both ways.
The warranty covers faults in materials or manufacture. It does not cover:
fair wear and tear, including the faux fur flattening, matting or shedding through ordinary use
scuffs, marks, staining or soiling
battery capacity reducing gradually over time, which is normal for any rechargeable device
water damage, or damage from damp, heat or direct sunlight
accidental damage, dropping, crushing or pulling
damage caused by using a charger or cable other than a standard USB-C one
anything opened, modified or repaired by someone other than us
use by children under 15, for whom the product is not designed
any commercial use, including display, hire or use as a prop
The warranty applies to the original buyer and is not transferable. It applies only to a Mirumi bought directly from us, and we will ask for your order number. It does not cover a Mirumi bought from Harrods, which is covered by Harrods, or one bought from anyone else. There are websites selling counterfeit Mirumi. We cannot repair, replace or refund those.
This warranty is in addition to your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and does not replace or reduce them. In particular, it does not affect your right to reject faulty goods within 30 days of delivery, which is set out in our Refund policy.
To make a claim, write to info@mirumi.london with your order number and a description of the problem, with photographs. Please do not send anything back before we have replied, because we may be able to solve it without you posting anything.
8. Intellectual property
The Mirumi name, the mirumi wordmark and the design of the product belong to Yukai Engineering or to us. The text, photography, film and design of this website belong to us or to the people who licensed them to us. They are protected by the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, by trade mark law and by equivalent laws in other countries.
You are welcome to look at our website, share links to it and use it to buy things. You may not copy, reproduce, republish or redistribute our photography, film or text for commercial purposes without asking us first. If you would like to use our images, write to info@mirumi.london and we will usually say yes.
Shopify's name and logo belong to Shopify. Other names and logos on the site belong to whoever owns them.
9. Relationship with Shopify
Mirumi UK is powered by Shopify, which enables us to provide the Services to you. However, any sales and purchases you make in our Store are made directly with Mirumi UK. By using the Services, you acknowledge and agree that Shopify is not responsible for any aspect of any sales between you and Mirumi UK, including any injury, damage, or loss resulting from purchased products and services. You hereby expressly release Shopify and its affiliates from all claims, damages, and liabilities arising from or related to your purchases and transactions with Mirumi UK.
For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in this section affects any right or remedy you have against us. If something goes wrong with your order, you come to us.
10. Privacy
Everything we do with your personal information is set out in our Privacy policy.
Because our shop runs on Shopify, Shopify also processes information about your visit in order to run the site for us, and some of that processing happens outside the United Kingdom. Shopify's own privacy policy covers what they do with it.
11. Reviews and anything you send us
If you send us a review, a photograph, a suggestion or any other content, you keep ownership of it. You give us permission to use it on our website, in our emails and on our social channels, with credit where you have given us a name to use. Tell us if you would rather we did not, and we will take it down.
Please only send us things you have the right to send, and please tell us if you were paid or given anything in return for a review, because we have to disclose that.
We may remove content that is unlawful, abusive or misleading. We are not obliged to publish anything, to keep it confidential or to pay for it.
12. Mistakes on the website
We occasionally make mistakes with prices, descriptions or availability. If we spot an obvious error before we have dispatched your order, we will contact you, explain, and give you the choice of continuing at the correct price or cancelling with a full refund. We will not simply charge you more without asking.
13. Acceptable use
Please use our website lawfully and sensibly. In particular, do not use it to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, to harass our team or anyone else, to send spam, to impersonate someone, to introduce malware, to scrape or harvest data, or to get around our security measures.
If someone does any of that, we may restrict or withdraw their access to the site.
14. Automated agents
This section applies if you use, allow or enable an automated agent to interact with our website. An agent means software that takes autonomous or semi-autonomous action on your behalf.
Agents must identify themselves as agents in the user agent string of every request, must not disguise themselves as human, must answer honestly when asked whether they are software, must not defeat CAPTCHAs or similar measures, and must respect any technical limits we apply. We may block agents that do not.
15. Our responsibility to you
We do not exclude or limit our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for any breach of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, and for any breach of your rights under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
If we fail to comply with these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of that failure or of our failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is obvious that it will happen, or if at the time the contract was made both you and we knew it might happen.
We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We supply Mirumi for domestic and private use. If you use it for any commercial purpose, we will have no liability to you for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
We do not control the websites of other companies that we link to, and we are not responsible for what is on them.
16. Your responsibility to us
If you deliberately misuse our website, break the law through it, or infringe someone else's rights using it, and we suffer loss as a result, you are responsible for that loss. This applies only to deliberate or unlawful acts. It does not apply to ordinary use of our site or to anything arising from a mistake.
17. Fair use, and when we may decline to sell to you
Your legal rights are your legal rights, and we will always honour them. Nothing in this section takes any of them away.
We do, however, reserve the right to decline future orders. We may do that where someone repeatedly buys and returns without any apparent intention of keeping the item, where returns arrive that are not the item we sent, where someone is buying to resell, or where someone has been abusive to our team.
If we decline to sell to you in future we will tell you, and it will not affect any order you have already placed or any right you have in relation to something you have already bought.
If you raise a dispute with your bank or card provider, we will provide them with our records, including the order, the tracked delivery record, the unique identifier of the item sent and our correspondence with you. You are of course free to raise a dispute. We would much rather you wrote to us first, because in almost every case we can sort it out faster than your bank can.
18. Suspending or ending access
We may restrict or withdraw access to our website where someone is misusing it, where we need to for legal or security reasons, or where we are making changes. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give notice first. This does not affect any order you have already placed and paid for.
19. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The version on this page is always the current one, and the date at the top tells you when it last changed. Changes apply to orders placed after the change. They do not change the terms of an order you have already placed.
20. General
If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
If we do not insist on something straight away, that does not mean we have given up the right to insist on it later.
You may not transfer your rights under these terms to someone else without asking us. We may transfer ours to another company, for example if our business is reorganised or sold. If we do, we will tell you, and it will not reduce your rights.
These terms, together with our Refund policy, Shipping policy and Privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about your use of our website and anything you buy from us.
21. Governing law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland, you may bring proceedings in either Scotland or England and Wales. If you live in Northern Ireland, you may bring proceedings in either Northern Ireland or England and Wales.
If something has gone wrong, please write to info@mirumi.london first. We read every message and we would much rather sort it out directly. We aim to reply within one working day.
